Paul writes in Ephesians 6:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God. . . for our struggle is not against flesh and blood. . . Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition.
 
The battle is first fought with prayer and intercession. And as we seek the Lord fervently and stand, putting on the full armor of God, He will prepare, strengthen, establish, keep, and use us for His glory and good purposes.
