Good morning dearest friends and family!
I hope you each are enjoying the sunshine and tasty garden harvests that come with summertime around the world.
We’ve enjoyed the month of June here in Namuganga with the welcoming of 15 visitors and a wedding celebration for our beloved friends Micheal and Liz.
We also had the grand opening of our women’s craft store with a variety of hand-weaved products including picnic mats, door mats, place mats, coasters, trivets, and varying sizes of weaved baskets. We also displayed and sold traditional Ugandan dresses, dress shirts, and bags handcrafted by our seamstress and tailor, Mama Gloria, and other locally-sourced items from nearby communities to encourage our local economy. The opening was a huge success and such an encouragement for the women to see the work of their hands displayed and desired by so many.
At the beginning of the month, the Ugandan government re-enacted a lockdown to ease the curve of COVID-19. All schools, churches, offices, borders, and all inner-country travel have been suspended for 42 days or until further notice from the president.
In light of the current circumstances and with much thought, prayer, and guidance, I will be traveling back stateside today for a few weeks to spend quality time with family and friends and connect with each of you who have so graciously walked alongside me. The decision came with many layers, but I am feeling such peace and gratitude to have the opportunity to return and share face to face what God is doing here in Uganda.
May God bless each of you abundantly during these warm summer months and perhaps intersect our lives for a sweet moment in time.
Mukama abawe emiikisa.
With love, gratitude, & many hugs,
Maama Colo
